Extractions

At Town Square Dentistry, we work to avoid all possible tooth extractions. We want to do everything we can to maintain your healthy smile. Sometimes, tooth extractions are recommended to help protect surrounding teeth or a tooth may need to be removed because of crowding in order to make more room for teeth to shift into place. Other times an injury or severe decay causes a tooth to need to be extracted. No matter the reason for an extraction, our team is well-trained and experienced and will go the extra mile to help your visit be both comfortable and pleasant.

The Procedure

At times, a tooth extraction may be more extensive and need to be surgically removed. Whether it is an impacted wisdom tooth or a tooth that is broken at the gumline, it is important to have your tooth extracted so that you can avoid future pain or complications. Sometimes a tooth extraction can be the best thing for your smile to help improve the health of your teeth.

After your tooth removal, a post-extraction appointment will be set up to make sure that your mouth is healing properly and that there are no signs of infection. You may experience a small amount of bleeding within the first hour following an extraction. The healing process typically takes five to seven days.

Sedation Dentistry

We offer sedation dentistry which can also help you to be more comfortable and relaxed throughout a tooth extraction. With sedation dentistry, you can be at ease while your dentist carefully extracts your tooth. Following a tooth extraction, your dentist can discuss restoration options if you are in need of a tooth replacement. Dental implants, crowns, bridges and other options are available to fill the gap in your smile.
